I have a 2008 Sebring convertible and I am very happy with it. The 2.7litre engine is returning over 30mpg. Everything works as it should and I have it maintained regularly. I just rented a 2008 Alamo Chrysler Sebring (4 cyl auto) out of Detroit and went on an epic 2 week driving quest (e.g. see the college kids). Total of 3433 miles with with 108.9 gallons of gas. Came to 31.5 mpg. Pretty good. I'd estimate 90% hiway, 10% city - averaging 70mph on the hiway. The gas cost was about double of what the car cost to rent. Lowest pirce I got was $3.179 ... I just had a 2007/2008 Sebring rental with a 2.4L and an automatic. Drove it about 5 hrs, mostly freeway at about 70 MPH with the AC on ... I was very pleasantly surprised to get an honest 33 MPG out of this very substantial car. It was not a dog to drive and I did not pamper it. Thanks much for your input. I just picked my car up from the dealer about an hour ago. If it is actually fixed remains to be seen. I, of course, have to wait for the next rain. I will say this for the dealership...........they had my car for a week (today) but provided me with a SWEEEEET ride (brand new; not a rental) a 2008 Sebring Convertivble. I enjoyed it immensely ... I just read online that Chrysler has sent out a recall on Sebrings due to an electrical problem that might cause stalling or other issues. "Chrysler will seal the wires for the tire pressure monitoring system" at no cost. However--according to the story I read it is on 2007-08 models only. I have a 1996 Sebring Convertible Jxi 2.5L. I want all of you to know that I had this stalling problem, and it was very scary. I took my 2008 Sebring to another Chrysler dealership. They called corporate with no positive response. I am still driving around with what feels like a loaded gun. The new dealership said they could piut some kind of computer in my car and when it stalls again I would push a button to give them more diagnostic information.
